Preparing your home for external rendering: what to expect

19 June 2026

Having the outside of your home rendered is a big improvement, and it goes far more smoothly when you know what to expect. Here is a simple run-through of a typical project.

Before we start

We survey the property, check the condition of the existing walls, and agree the system, colour and finish with you. We will let you know about access, scaffolding where needed, and roughly how long the job will take.

During the work

We protect windows, doors, paths and planting, fit beads and mesh where required, and apply the render in the correct coats. Machine application helps us keep a consistent finish across larger elevations. We keep the site tidy as we go.

After we finish

We remove protection, clean up, and walk you round the finished work. With through-coloured systems there is no painting to do. We will also explain how to keep the finish looking its best, which for most modern renders is very little.

Good preparation is what separates a render that lasts from one that lets you down, and it is where we spend real care on every job.
